We are a worker-owned bakery collective. We recently collectivized in the last two years. We are seeking a baker/cupcake decorator to join the team who is highly responsible, creative, and organized. Shifts are 4-8 hours per day, approximately 20 hours/week. Weekend availability is a must, with flexible shifts available Monday-Saturday. We are a small team committed to open communication, collective decision-making, and creative expression. We love coming up with new cupcakes flavors and menu items to sell in the shop, and are always learning and experimenting.
Qualifications
- Must love dessert!
- Great at working on a team
- Must be able to work weekends
- Some baking experience either at home or professional
- Fast learner with good problem solving skills
- Can lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in a small, often fast-paced environment
- Have or obtain a CA Food Handler’s Certificate
- Customer Service, bakery and/or food service experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Production, including:
- Baking (including troubleshooting recipes)
- Decorating cupcakes and cakes
- Making frostings and fillings
- Daily Shop Maintenance, including:
- Washing dishes, cleaning/mopping
- Organizing/tidying shop inventory
- Monitoring supply levels of ingredients and other necessary materials
- Customer service, including:
- Greeting customers and selling baked goods
- Cash handling
- Answering phone calls
- Attending weekly team meetings, collective decision-making
Benefits
- Starting pay is $18/hour, going up to $22/hour after 6 months.
